Dancefloor Rituals & Hangover Resets: A FERMI Guide to Amsterdam with Jiminal

Jiminal is a DJ and founder of FERMI, a party collective from Amsterdam, throwing intimate gatherings in dreamlike places. Amsterdam-raised and partly Asia-based, his mission is to collaborate with local club communities around the world to craft deep musical experiences that give dancers space to move, drift, and lose track of time.

To Jim, going out in Amsterdam began to feel repetitive, the same nightclubs, similar curation, and harder to penetrate. FERMI’s musical DNA is built on warm sounds that carry soul and a cosmic edge. It started from a desire to throw intimate, community-led gatherings in off-the-beaten-path places, where the sound system, decoration, and atmosphere could be tuned properly to feel like a FERMI event.

This guide reflects that rhythm: the dance floors he trusts by night, and cozy corners and kitchens he gravitates toward by day.

Mr. Blou I Love You

Mr. Blou I Love You is my hangover reset. It’s a vegan street food spot founded by a former Michelin-star chef.

Café Warung Pas

Cafe Warung Pas is a very atmospheric warung in Amsterdam Noord, overlooking the water from Noord to Central.

Garage Noord — location photo

Garage Noord

Garage Noord is probably the culturally leading electronic club in Amsterdam right now. It’s an old car repair shop turned into a nightclub, it runs until 8 a.m., and there’s a strict no-phone policy, which I really respect.

Canvas

Canvas is my favorite rooftop bar in Amsterdam. It gives you a full 360 view of the city — in summer you can enjoy the balcony, but even in winter it’s nice because of the view.

San Francisco Bar & Club — location photo

San Francisco Bar & Club

Bar San Francisco is a really central spot for the electronic underground in Amsterdam. It was co-founded by Interstellar Funk and it’s become this natural meeting point for people in the scene.

murmur

murmur is one of my favorite spaces in Amsterdam. It’s a listening bar in Noord, super intimate, and they do a really wide range of programming — poetry readings, listening sessions, art exhibitions, food showcases, live music.

Shout-bij-nacht — location photo

Shout-bij-nacht

Shout-bij-nacht is a cute baresto in the Jordaan, which is one of the more traditional neighborhoods in Amsterdam. It’s great for a date night that might turn into dancing.

Doka — location photo

Doka

Doka is located in the basement of the Volkshotel and it’s a really intimate club — maybe 150 people max. The programming is top-tier, mixing local legends with international underground acts. The sound is warm and soulful, and it’s genuinely a lovely cro
