Estúdio Lâmina is an independent cultural venue and polymorphic art space in a 1940s building in São Paulo's historic center. It opened in November 2011 as a house-gallery, creative studio and artist residency, and has spent the last decade becoming one of the main houses of the city's underground.
Four floors. On any given night, the building can host multiple parties, exhibitions, performances, and cultural events at the same time. A queer rave on one floor, a film screening on another, a poetry reading on a third, an installation you find by accident on a fourth. The building works as a vertical circuit of different scenes, sounds, and atmospheres.

A space for experimentation
Lâmina was built as a space for experimentation, artistic research and the circulation of new voices in contemporary culture, especially outside traditional institutional circuits. Its program brings together visual arts, music, performance, dance, circus, cinema, poetry and nightlife under one roof, sitting in the tension between São Paulo's historic center and its margins.
The building works as a meeting point for artists, collectives and communities experimenting with new ways of occupying the city, building nightlife and expanding culture from the underground up.

What you'll find here
- Independent parties from São Paulo's queer, electronic and experimental music scenes
- Visual art exhibitions and artist residencies
- Performance, dance and circus
- Film screenings and poetry nights
- Multidisciplinary events that move between all of the above

Part of the IRL Venue Network
Lâmina is exactly the kind of independent, community-built space the IRL Venue Network is built around. Locally rooted, programmed by the people inside the scene, and stubbornly outside the mainstream club circuit.
If you run a space like this anywhere in the world, apply to the IRL Venue Network.
